Caring for Your KHEM Board

Every KHEM board is made from furniture-grade kiln-dried hardwood, finished with natural food-safe oil and wax. With basic care, it will last a lifetime and look better with age.

Use it. These boards are made to be worked on. Cut on one side, present on the other — or don't worry about it at all. The patina that develops over time is part of the beauty.

Wash by hand. Warm water and mild soap after each use. Dry upright or with a clean towel. Never soak, never dishwasher, never leave in standing water.

Oil regularly. Wood is a living material — it needs moisture to stay stable and protected. Reapply food-safe mineral oil every few weeks and wax every few months, or whenever the surface starts to look dry. This is the single most important thing you can do for your board.

Removing stains. Sprinkle coarse salt over the stain, then scrub with a halved lemon. Let it sit for five to ten minutes, scrape off the residue, and rinse with warm water. Dry thoroughly. This lifts most food stains and deodorizes the surface.
